I Want to Make You
Song written by Paul Nowell, performed by Smokefield Crush. Produced and engineered by Matt Beeson. Paul Nowell – Vocals and Guitar; Matt Beeson – Drums; Bass by a guy whose name escapes me. (It’s been over 20 years…)
I broke things out into some general categories of art or work I like to pursue. “Writings” will take you to samples of my writing. I enjoy discussing politics, and will keep an ongoing blog here at this site for that one topic. But I write ad copy, technical copy, poetry, songs, and more.
“Music” covers quite a bit, as I wear many hats. I grew up with a decent acoustic guitar in the house. I recall taking one lesson at the music store at the local mall. I didn’t really take guitar seriously then, and that is unfortunate. Kids can be dummies.
I heard Rush for the first time after Moving Pictures was released. I was around 11 years old. The sounds of Tom Sawyer hit me in my deepest musical special place, and I was done. Whatever thoughts of becoming a doctor or lawyer died, for all intents and purposes, that day.
I begged for a drumset from that day forward. I finally got one when I was 16, I think. So the music section will host a subsection on my drumming journey. It was my first serious instrument, and I suppose the drums represent the largest body of work I completed in music.
But I did ultimately decide to take guitar seriously. So the music section will have a guitar place as well.
I graduated from The Conservatory of Recording Arts & Sciences in 1997. I opened a recording studio shortly after, financed with a small loan cosigned by my Father. The studio was taken from me at gunpoint. That’s a story for another day. The point here is that the music section will also feature my work as a recording engineer and music producer.
“Services” will offer some discussion and my qualifications for services I offer, including project management and more.
“Liquor Hot Sauce” tells the story of Swamp Dragon and more. I invented and patented liquor hot sauce, and I started Swamp Dragon, L.L.C. in 2017 to exploit the concept. Maybe one day I’ll tell the story of the patent process.
